For information About the Our Brighton Hippodrome [OBH] and Save the Brighton Hippodrome [SBH] Facebook Pages: SBH Facebook Page started a few years ago as a general community concern Page, because the building was being allowed to become derelict. OBH Page began more recently, specifically as part of the launch of the OBH campaign to present a real alternative to the cinema conversion plans: OBH contend that a Theatre would be - - More profitable in the light of the increasing popularity of theatre, falling cinema attendance and the many already existing Brighton screens, and beneficial to existing Brighton businesses. - More in keeping with Brightons historical Lanes area and the Grade ll* [two star] listed theatre building, currently Number One in the Theatres Trusts Theatre Buildings at Risk register. - Better suited to support Brightons reputation as an international city of culture. Removing this unique theatre would irreparably damage that reputation. The OBH campaign committee members include theatre and architecture professionals. They have developed a viability study for the Hippodrome as a leading theatre venue for the city. You can download the PDF from the link in the comment below this post. The creator of the SBH Page has generously handed access to that Page to the OBH campaign. As both have a substantial number of Likes, we decided to maintain both Pages together, to keep all supporters informed of progress (updated as time permits). The function of the two Pages and our Twitter @ourhippodrome is: - As a forum to facilitate discussion and a fair and open exchange of views about the fate of the Brighton Hippodrome Theatre. - To report and highlight the feelings, opinions and comments of the people of Brighton and beyond. - To report news from the core OBH campaign as it is given to us, its activities and how you can help. - To gather and share news and media coverage of the Brighton Hippodrome Theatre, the planning process and the campaign. -To report any additional initiatives and activities by OBH supporters. The two pages and the @ourhippodrome Twitter feed are maintained by the OBH social media team. Please continue to tweet and retweet, and to send your comments and news of your supporting activities for inclusion in these pages. The website ourhippodrome.org.uk gives details of the core OBH campaign. If you have any further enquiries about the campaign itself, publicity, fundraising and the work of the central committee, or youd like to offer any assistance at all with the campaign, please email direct to [email protected] Thank you for your continued support.
