For many who went to Glen View school, there was a teacher who made a big impact on their lives. A no-nonsense country girl from Nebraska, Barbara Gailey taught first grade for some 25 years, singing in her falsetto, teaching old-fashioned ABCs, and doling out midwestern wisdom to many of the folks you see around town today. They were the first family we met when we moved to Gilroy in 1970, and we are still close with them today.
