For me personally...this season of giving has been enhanced with some internal reflection of how to endure the hits that our American society has taken. I wonder at times about the conversations that are happening beyond our borders. Perhaps there are Americans who, while on vacation, are sitting down to enjoy lunch at a bistro...and are asked by the locals about the lack of civil peace we seem to be having here in the states. I would have to think that USA pride wouldnt be the first thing that would come to mind. Embarrassment...and maybe some shame. I can only hope that my countrymen would explain how we are still an evolving nation...and that the majority of our population of mixed races seek calm, clear heads. We are having some hiccups...but we are learning...still. I have found some solace in a wonderful song...unexpectedly written by someone who came to a realization that his actions previously had been horrid...and inhumane. And he seeks forgiveness.
