For my American friends--this is to prove that I have become bilingual. I took this video this morning of people enjoying the seaside in the Christmas sun, but I inadvertently picked up the conversation of the gentleman beside me who was on his cell phone/mobile talking about the problems he was having with a phone. He is speaking in a very strong regional accent. Some of voice is garbled but I have included a translation of that which is clear: Fine, arent they?I tried to answer a call the other day. You gotta slide it up to answer . . . 3 or 4 times. That hurt him. I am guessing that some of you are having a very difficult time understanding a word that he says. In the same way, a British person would probably have a like problem with say a very deep Southern accent from Mississippi or Alabama. As G B Shaw said, Two nations separated by one language.
