For my Ashland friends, in the small world department - just met the father of one of my BC grad friends (who is from this area). Are you from around here, he asked. No sir, I grew up in Ashland, Ky. Oh, he said I played football in your stadium back in 1953. We took a trip down there and it was a nice concrete stadium, they had a fine team. After I said No way!, I told him about the new Putnam Stadium, the great Ashland Tomcats sports traditions (including most basketball wins of any team in the Commonwealth of Kentucky) while he went on to tell me about playing basketball for Xavier University against Vernon Hatton. A little taste of home in the hallways of my workplace!
