For my Daughter Faith on her BIRTHDAY WEEK ! Her Bday is June 24th,,,Dang it!!!! Your birthday now ends with the word teen,, Ive done everything I can to keep my foot on the brake, but to also allow you to grow and enjoy each day as a young beautiful little girl, but Im your dad, and my entire duty is to Love you Unconditionally, Protect you, Raise you and not let you grow up faster than you should. You have grown up the last 13 years as a POLICEMANS DAUGHTER. Which means that you have had to endure every lesson I that Ive learned, experienced, worried about and witnessed. A POLICEMANS DAUGHTER is different, because she has the protection of her Dads Brothers and Sisters in Blue, but shes been given a level of expectation that is probably impossible to live up to. But Ill share with you something in front of everyone,,, You have exceeded everything a Father could ever wish for up to this day. Im not just proud to call you my daughter,,I actually look up to the Heavens and ask God are you sure I deserve her? Yes, you drive me nuts with your phone and your Instagram,your changing of the radio stations when Im listening to a song, your look in your eyes if you see a cute boy, when you drink all of my Diet Coke when I sit it next me,,- YES YOU DO DRIVE ME NUTS!! But in the morning, when Im shaving and brushing my teeth,, I see the white hair on the side of my ears,, and they are coming faster ,, and are plenty,, And I whisper in my heart a wish,, God, let me be here forever to watch my children grow. You see,, I know youll stumble, youll ignore some warnings and lessons of mine,, and you might fall,, BUT ILL BE THERE,, to get you back up, to dust you off,, and to remind you , Faith, this is what I was talking about. -- -- So anyway,, 13 Birthdays you have Celebrated already,,,I may not remember the Themes of each party, the friends that came,, or maybe the locations of each Party,,, but What I can remember is the Gift,,, And the Gift is You,,,, I LOVE YOU FAITH MEGAN GIDDINGS,,, Happy 13th Birthday!
