Upper Deck took the parallel insert idea to new levels in 1999 - TopicsExpress

Upper Deck took the parallel insert idea to new levels in 1999 when it issued most of its insert cards in five different tiers: a regular issue, a Double parallel issue serial-numbered to 1,000 copies made, a Triple numbered to 100, a Quadruple numbered to 10, and a Home Run numbered to just 1. Examples of any player in the Quadruple/10 and Home Run/1 parallels are among the scarcest and most coveted insert cards ever made. Lesser stars and common players turn up maybe a few times a year on eBay, if that often, and when an example of a major star surfaces, it will typically command a Buy-It-Now price well into the multiple thousands, like the Ken Griffey Jr. View to a Thrill Quadruple parallel currently listed on eBay for $15,000. Offered here is another Quadruple of Derek Jeter from the same set, only this one is numbered 01/10 made -- the very first one produced, making it a 1/1 according to some collectors who fancy such distinctions -- and has been graded PSA 9 Mint, the only elite Quadruple Jeter example ever graded. Offered with our sincerest recommendation, opportunities to acquire late 1990s Jeter inserts of this caliber, especially in a no-reserve auction format, have virtually ceased to exist on eBay and elsewhere.
