For my arty friends... Smartphone Art Show (working title) Calling all Artists!!! Do you have a love/hate relationship with your smartphone? Has Facebook taken over your iPhone? Do you obsess over how many Likes you get on Instagram? Are you constantly Twittering, Yelping and Snapchatting on your Droid? Do you text more than you talk? Can you navigate the world without a Google Maps app? Do you panic when you can’t find your smartphone? Or maybe you have chosen not to be in a relationship with a smartphone? If your work tackles the lusty, rocky, engaging and often volatile partnership you have with your smartphone, we encourage you to be a part of the Smartphone Art Show. A group of Durham, NC area mobile lov3rs and h8ters are putting together a juried show for 2014 (dates TBD). The show’s main theme is Smartphones and Intimacy. We are looking for work that deals with smartphone addiction, mobile social media, surveillance, radiation, etc., in the context of smartphones - anything on the land or in the skies, as long as it should be viewed or experienced from or within a gallery space. As artists, we acknowledge that there is a need to articulate this new sphere of communication and intimacy in the age of Smartphonia. How has your mode of communication and mobile-ability to create intimate spaces changed with the mobile revolution? Join this conversation - WE NEED YOUR ART! Submit today! SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 1, 2013 EXHIBITION DATES: 2014 (dates TBD) ELIGIBILITY: This exhibition is open to all artists in any medium. JURORS: A committee of Durham area artists ENTRY FEE: none REQUIREMENTS: - Electronic submissions only (see link to form below). - Your bio - one short paragraph. - A description of your submission - 2-3 short paragraphs. - Contact information: Full name, mailing address, email address, website, daytime phone number. - EXAMPLES OF WORK: Email up to 3 images (reasonable file sizes, please) or provide direct links to examples of your work. - If your work is selected, you are responsible for both the expense of mailing work to the gallery and the expense of returning it. For visual work, this means a self-addressed, stamped envelope or return postage on a well-packed box. For video/audio work, we will be in touch to coordinate a download (no CDs/DVDs, please). - If your work is selected and will be for sale, you must provide clear pricing information for each piece.
