For my friends in Front Royal, please read this article and let the Board & Mr. Mitchell know what you think! The town of Front Royal is trying to take my parents land and the land of some good family friends to expand the airport. In my parents case they want to cut down all of the trees that stand between my parents house and the runway and put a beacon tower outside of their bedroom window with a huge red flashing light 24/7 that will shine in their room all night. They have drug my parents and the Currys along for over five years, ignoring their request for information and meetings for most of that time. My parents have tried to work in good faith with the Board to come to an agreement whereby the town buys them out of the 4.5 acres and their house. Cutting down all of the trees and putting a beacon tower beside their house would completely diminish any quality of life they have. With the light flashing all the time and the deafening noise from the planes and helicopters taking off and landing, there is no way my parents could continue to live there. Would you want to know that the town could claim eminent domain on your land and steal it away from you, leaving you to live there in a house with the noise and disturbance. All for a RECREATIONAL airport?! I ask that you consider what youd do if it were you, and if youd want others to support you in your fight. If so, please respond to this article and send letters to your Board representatives and to Mr. Mitchell letting them know what you think of this. If you need it, I can even get you addresses and phone numbers. Speak out in support of my parents. Inundate them with calls and letters until they get to the point where theyre afraid to answer their phones or open their mail. My parents tried to work with them and Mr. Mitchell, the town attorney, took that good faith effort and threw it back in their faces with this article.
