For once I support the Mumbai police and the BMC drive against illegal hawkers. We are anyway a city deprived of pavements and proper roads. These people encroach upon any available space and spread out their wares. Yes They are doing this to earn a livelihood but which city in the world allows this kind of unruly settlement? Honest people spend their life time making enough money to buy a legal commercial space to conduct their business. These people come from nowhere and set up shop right outside their shops and block the entrances. Is that fair? I now know it is tougher to walk the extra mile to buy our vegetables as the local vendor is no longer just outside our doorstep. But see Hill road and Linking road in Bandra and you will realise that for once, the roads can be seen again. Well done my Mumbai law enforcers, you are doing the right job(although I know its just matter of time and they will be back on the pavements)
