For past some time rumors have been running thick and fast in New Delhi that Mr. Rajnath Singhs son Pankaj Singh was called for a personal audience by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then ticked off for improper conduct. It is said that a trap was laid for Pankaj by someone at the top who suspected him of such wrongdoings and he walked straight into that. It is alleged that Pankaj worked as conduit for transfer of a middle level police officer. Mr Raj Nath Singh in a press conference assured the nation that if the allegations, even prima facie or even small, were proven against him or his family, he will quit politics and public life and sit at home. Even the Prime Minister’s Office denied these rumors by issuing an official statement. Rumors are a normal thing in all capitals of the world and New Delhi is not an exception. So the fact that certain rumor was spread is not important. The important thing is that some people claim that it was an insider job in the BJP. The important thing is that the position of the Union Home Minister has become somewhat weak. At least he had to give explanation to the PM, the party president, the RSS and the nation. Most of the people will believe what Mr. Singh said. But there are some people who always doubt. To that extent this rumor mongering has hurt Mr. Singh.
