For sale here is my pride and joy and labour of love: my vintage, - TopicsExpress

For sale here is my pride and joy and labour of love: my vintage, customised BSA Shopper. Bought in Nottingham the thing had been left for dead for 30 years and was rusted almost to the brink. Ive been working on the bike for about a year, fully deconstructed it and hand-grinded the rust off every section, bolt, nut, everything as best as could be done. What we have now is a bike that has been brought back, with the frame being treated with a few coats of rust proof primer and sprayed in a matt black. Obviously I have customised it for my taste: minimal and low key, although I was recently walking it through Tatton Park and someone asked if they could photograph it - many positive comments are made about the bike by passers by etc. Negative features: Ok its a vintage bike, parts may be expensive, hard to get a hold of etc, just comes with wanting vintage but as youre reading this, you probably are already aware of that. There are a few nicks here and there, I havent hooked up the gears, I have no rear brake attached, the label from the Brooks saddle is missing. Positive features: Fantastically attractive bike, the chrome gleams in the sun, the ride is comfortable for leisure, the bike has been lovingly restored. Now, as I said the rear brake and gears arent attached, but this is my preference; the gear switch, brakes (with unused brake blocks) etc can all be provided if required. The Sturmey Archer gear box is in working order - set to a comfortable leisurely gear and is a great ride. I have customised the handgrips but have the original white bullet handgrips too. Another new addition is the rear light for safety, also minimal, to my taste. The wheels were carefully sourced - brand new, the old ones were just too far gone to be considered safe. I decided on the vintage style with white trim and Im very happy with them, sets off the theme really well. If the new owner wants basket brackets I have one for the rear which can easily be fitted. Original BSA badge fitted to the front. Saddle in great condition. So new parts are tyres, rear light, brake blocks, handgrips. Rust proofing and re-spray. I wont charge for extra parts if they are required, I want the new owner to feel unrestricted in their own customisation of the bike. I would suggest decals might set off the frame really well as I was considering this. Everything has been newly oiled/lubricated. If you feel that I have missed anything out or you have questions, please feel free to ask. Im listing this as pick up only and I am Manchester-based, not far from a ring road exit, so really easy to get to. Please also note I do actually have quite a few other parts of raleigh/BSA Shoppers if there is a need for them.
