For some reason, I felt duty bound to watch this movie. I am not - TopicsExpress

For some reason, I felt duty bound to watch this movie. I am not a person who closely follows politics, but, of course, I knew the basic story of the search for Osama Bin Ladin. I thought that this movie would give me some insight that I had missed from not being a newshound. And, it did. Sort of. I guess. The movie presented an engrossing and interesting story...but I still felt like it was just giving me select pieces of the puzzle. I still felt there was spin. I still felt that some elements of truth were sacrificed for good story telling and making an exciting movie that people would want to watch. Jessica Chastain was very good, some of the other acting felt stereotypical. Director Kathryn Bigelow did a good job of showing the coldness and horror of a calculated terrorist attack and made me despise the attackers. But she, also presented the captured terrorists as human beings who, perhaps, do not deserve the treatment they are given. It gave me something to think about. I thought the most interesting part of the film was the last 25 minutes which showed the raid of the compound by the Navy SEALS. Overall, it was good movie...but not a great movie. The Hurt Locker was better. 7/10.
