For the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), this is a time of unprecedented changes and challenges. Public debate continues over testing and core curricula, teacher tenure and the role of unions, the introduction of computer tablets and other technologies, breakfast in the classroom programs, student safety, and more. At this crucial period for our schools, the School Board seat for this area—District One—is currently open. The South Robertson Neighborhoods Council (SORO NC) and League of Women Voters of Los Angeles are co-sponsoring a candidate forum to help residents understand the issues and how each candidate would help guide LAUSD through them.
