RADON FYI to all my Northern VA friends - I currently have clients purchasing a home in the area. In addition to a home inspection, they elected to have the home tested for Radon (simple test for less that $150). The level was substantially elevated. Over the past two years, I have noticed a considerable increase in radon levels with my clients. I purchased my home 5 years ago testing for radon. At the time, the results were below the required level for concern. It appears since the earthquake in 2011 in Mineral VA, radon levels started increasing. Not sure if the two are related, we decided to retest. We too tested extremely high. Radon is a gas you can not see, smell or taste which can cause lung cancer. Thankfully, the issue can be resolved quickly and easily by having a radon mitigation system installed - which we will be having done very, very soon!!
