For the first time in 10 years, as I stood in the doctors office I - TopicsExpress

For the first time in 10 years, as I stood in the doctors office I realized that today is the anniversary of the day that Mom had her scuba diving incident. Today was the day I got the call that she was in ICU in a coma. For the first time in 10 years I did not break down into a ball of emotional mess. I went to school after my doctors appointment, and so many people were hugging me, saying hi to me everywhere on campus. I went to pick up my paperwork for some disability services and he asked me how I was doing and after I got through telling him, he smiled, winked and said, We are here to help. Let us know if theres anything we can do. I went to go and get the instructors signature and was greeted with exuberant, Hi Chris! from several classmates. It was a shocking and weird day for me today. It was filled with so many hugs from so many classmates that it was a bit overwhelming but it made today, which any other year, was dismal. I do believe Im finally healing and Im looking forward to wonderful changes. Positive changes. Im back with my University of Washington providers, Jeff is going to be getting care from them as well, things are finally looking tremendously hopeful. Finally. In one fell swoop today, I have appointments with my cancer surgeon, a UW dermatologist, my blood work was taken, and tests are scheduled. All in one visit. Thats health care. Thats the way things are done.
