For the last five years, Ive been making it to the Dog on most Thursday nights for the great rocking blues jam, and have experienced some of the best our area has to offer...all for free. Never a cover charge. I was recently shocked to learn that Bruce R Famiglio has been paying the musicians cash and bar tabs totaling about $200 each Thursday. So, $200 times 52 weeks for the seven years hes been doing this comes to $72,800 out of Bruces pocket...right off the bottom line. It actually gets worse when you add in all the nights the Dog featured real local bands, asking $5 at the door, only to have a thin crowd. The estimate gets up to around $300 a week out of pocket. Now were talking well over $100,000. I have no idea how many sandwiches or beers he has had to sell in order to have enough profit to pay this, but its a very large number. So thanks Bruce, for subsidizing our entertainment. I hope that going forward a different business model can emerge that will take some of the pressure off of you. We owe you, big time.
