For the local elections of Georgia and North Carolina, there seems to be a lot of debate going on about having photo IDs at the polling stations. One group is claiming it is discrimination to the minorities to require a photo ID. There is a problem with that argument. In order to drive a car, you are required to have something called a drivers license. That is a photo ID. For those who do not drive, they still have to present a photo ID in order to cash checks where they go to the Drivers License bureau and obtain a State ID card. Otherwise checks can be stolen and cashed without proof of ID. Is it discrimintation to require a state drivers license in order to legally drive a car on the highway??? That argument is weak and false.
