For the lovers of progressive rock and in this case one of the bands most representative ...simply a classic: RIPPLES - Genesis [written: Rutherford, Banks (1976)] Lyrics: Bluegirls come in every size Some are wise and some otherwise They got pretty blue eyes For an hour a man may change For an hour her face looks strange Looks strange, looks strange Marching to the promised land Where the honey flows and takes you by the hand Pulls you down on your knees While youre down a pool appears The face in the water looks up And she shakes her head as if to say That its the last time youll look like today Sail away, away Ripples never come back Gone to the other side Sail away, sail away The face that launched a thousand ships Is sinking fast, that happens you know The water gets below Seems not very long ago Lovelier she was than any that I know Angels never know its time To close the book and gracefully decline The song has found a tale My, what a jealous pool she is The face in the water looks up She shakes her head as if to say That the blue girls have all gone away Sail away, away Ripples never come back Theyve gone to the other side Look into the pool Ripples never come back Dive to the bottom and go to the top To see where they have gone Oh, theyve gone to the other side LINE-UP (*): Tony Banks – acoustic & electric pianos, Hammond T-102 organ, synthesizers, mellotron, 12-string guitar, backing vocals Phil Collins – lead and backing vocals, drums, percussion Steve Hackett – electric guitar, 12-string guitars Mike Rutherford – bass guitar, 12-string guitar, bass pedals (*) sorry, but line-up of the entire album A Trick of the Tail ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Mainly acoustic composition (wonderful and harmonic twelve-string guitars that accompany the melodious singing by Phil Collins). Artwork, principally, by Mike Rutherford with the notable help of Tony Banks. In the musical interlude, be reported the sweet and fairy exquisite work by Steve Hackett, with guitar played in Robert Fripps style (at least, Id say). CURIOSITY: I had written a really obscene lyrics for Ripples, and so I sang it until I wrote the final version. I never show anyone the original lyrics, are too depraved... (Rutherford) [ed. secret Ripples lyrics :D ]. In fact, the song begins just playing with a possible two-way, mentioning the Bluegirls, term for the female british students, for the blue uniforms with which many go to school(Rutherford). And Phil Collins increases the dose, sometimes in concert presenting it as Nipples, thing that [for example] in America is not so much appreciated (ed. evidently vulgar enough, I suppose). On the other hand, the humour is always an important part of our shows. Ripples is a song that relates to the passage of time and how all of us are destined to change physically(Collins) [ed. namely, destined to grow old, inexorably... sail away, away, ripples never come back, gone to the other side... FOREVER AND EVER! :( ) partial source: [The Musical Box Mario Giammetti - attempted murder of the english language: I (and excuse me eventual orthographic errors)] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ OFFICIAL VIDEO (resolution max 720p): https://youtube/watch?v=_puVTac834g
