For the past 23 years, Boston Ballet has given thousands of third-grade students the chance to dance through its Citydance program, which expanded to the North Shore in 2009. This fall, Citydance is visiting seven of our elementary schools, including Brickett, Fallon, Ford, Lincoln-Thomson, Lynn Woods, Sewell-Anderson, and Shoemaker. At each school, Boston Ballet staff provide one-hour classroom workshops that introduce students to the athleticism and artistry of dance. All students then are invited to sign up for a free series of 10 Saturday dance classes at the Boston Ballets studio in Marblehead. Yesterday morning at Shoemaker Elementary, Ms. Mimi and Ms. Alissa from Boston Ballet visited Ms. Pendergasts third-grade students, who enthusiastically experimented with a variety of shapes and movements set to music. Click on the video below to raise the curtain on one of their final workshop performances, and make sure to throw flowers and blow kisses to our star performers at the end!
