For the third time since my shoulder surgery my insurance company has sent me questionnaire regarding how I got the injury. I had two very normal injuries for my age rotator cuff tear and SLAP band tear but my larger problem was my HAGL lesion (Humeral avulsion of the glenohumeral ligament) which accounts for less than 7% of shoulder surgeries and usually on professional athletes like baseball pitchers or football quarterbacks. Obviously I do not meet this guide, how many times can I tell you I do not know how I did this?? I can guess and my surgeon agrees it was from being crutches after I broke a cuboid bone in my foot I dropped a metal Thule paddle board carrier on it. I at that point I already had the torn rotator cuff and SLAP band so I assume crutches was too much! Just pay it, my story will not be changing!
