The day began with some good quality choral music at St Marks - TopicsExpress

The day began with some good quality choral music at St Marks Basilica. Then, it was time to see more of the Architecture Biennale, including Rem Koolhaass Monditalia, a vast, wonderfully fragmented, and exhilarating encyclopaedia of research on the Italian world. Then, a Venetian-style dinner of sardines, squid-ink pasta, a big glass of cold beer, and lemon sorbet, while watching a suitably cliched sunset near the Grand Canal. Then, it was time to see the premiere of the very intense and moving “Katër i Radës” Il naufragio, a chamber opera by Albanian composer Admir Shkurtaj, based on a true account of the sinking of an Albanian refugee boat by an Italian patrol boat. Then, a long stroll back to the hotel, made even more pleasant with a melon and lemon gelato. I think it was a good day today.
