Just a thought God tells us through Isaiah that the best we give - TopicsExpress

Just a thought God tells us through Isaiah that the best we give is as a filthy menstruous rag or cloth. That is a fairly graphic description of our state in Gods eyes, and way to much information for many in our politically correct world. But it is Gods opinion and as such no matter how we feel about it we need to heed it to be pleasing to him. This mornings musings are on the state of men and women according to Isaiah three and four; women of today are under a reproach and filthy, and the men are so wicked that God will have most of them killed in a war, according to chapter three. We naturally do not see this and feel we are doing well before God in our actions to live his will. So what is it that we are not seeing? The indicator would appear from these two chapters to be plural marriage, due to the seven women taking hold of one man part. But also we are told that women and children will rule over a man in these vary same chapters and that God is offended by this. We men as priesthood leaders in our homes on the other hand, do not wish to rule our homes as dictators in with unrighteous dominion. It follows that our women are vary quick to remind us when we are doing wrong in their opinion and to divorce, cut and run when they feel their needs are not being met as they see fit. This is not to say there are not unjust men out there taking advantage of their wives and families, But we must question are we as a people being to quick to place touchy feely restrictions upon the behaviors of others? Restrictions and requirements that God himself does not make, making ourselves to quick to be offended. Women tend to complain if they are not getting the fair attention from their husband as the other wives. We are told from others and the leaders of the different Fundamentalist groups that we must be fair to each wife and give them equal time in our affections. But is this correct according to scripture? Esther told Mordecai that she had not seen the king in over a month when she was asked to approach the king in the matter of saving her people the children of Israel. Now king Ahasuerus of Persia had over three hundred and sixty five wives, there is no way on earth he could be fair with each of them in giving them equal time. The same is true with David and Solomon! In the case of David God himself tells us that he personally gave the multitude of wives to David. These marriages can be written off as a mans personal lust by many so we will move on to the relationship of our patriarch Jacob. Jacob just wanted one wife Rachel, but his father in law tricks him and gives him Leah, Jacob once married to Rachel spends more time with her as she is who he wanted. The scripture tells us Leah was hated of Jacob he favored Rachel and because of this God opened Leahs womb so Leah gets time with Jacob as she is having children. But Rachel was not having children and so looses Jacobs attention, what does she do? Rachel takes her handmaid and invites Jacob over for a threesome, it is not put this way in scripture but it is human nature for those honest enough to see it. Jacob stops coming to Leah and is now going regularly to Rachels tent to see his new concubine wife. Leah seeing and feeling the loss decides to fight fire with fire and takes her servant and have her own threesome to get Jacob back. It works. Now Jacob has four wives when he only wanted one. After the newness wears off of the sleeping arrangements, Jacob goes back to his old habit of sleeping mainly with Rachel. How do we know this from the verbal exchange over the mandrakes. Leah has to hire Jacob from Rachel to get him to come over and sleep with her and give her attention. We must remember God knew all of this about Jacob and still approves of him and makes him one of the great patriarchs of Israel. So what are we missing here as to how we are to act? Would Jacobs actions be accepted By the LDS or the AUB, or FLDS, or other groups out there? And no doubt he would have been in divorce in our day over this behavior, and most all would think the wives would be justified in divorcing him. Or his wives would have been taken and given to another probably many would line up eager to have the unhappy wives join their own family. One last point to ponder These wives were given to Jacob, David, and Ahasuerus, not through acquisition due to lust. Ahasuerus obtained his by lawful decree but Jacob and David had theirs given of God, something to consider. Solomon gained many of his by acquisition and treaty not through revelation or presentment from God as we are supposed to do. So how then are we to act toward our wives and husbands? With more tolerance and understanding, less willingness to be offended. We must remember that our standards and righteousness is unto Gad as a filthy used menstruous cloth. So we must endure what we feel as oppressive and unfair as long as the Lord God seeth fit to inflict the situation upon us for our refinement and growth, for God truly is in control and over all things. If we do so in prayer and long suffering we will be blessed by being refined and then overcome having gained experience in this also. If we do not like our situation we must approach God and learn what we must become so he will remove our burden. We must also remember that there are exceptions to everything so these ponderings are not hard and fast rules physical abuse is not to be put up with or endured. But in general here is something to consider for what it is worth to you!
