For those new to Afro Disco, please find below a Biography on our Disco Queen Patricia Majalisa. When a very young Patricia left her home town, East London, in the Eastern Cape in 1984, she had a dream of becoming one of the most successful local pop female singer. The name Patricia Majalisa is synonymous with that of Dan Tshanda and Splash. It’s that very combination that brought her to the limelight in 1988. Patricia was that electrifying backing voice who started the group Splash in Chiawelo, Soweto with Dan Tshanda and the other members of the group. Like all other artists desperate for a recording deal, they were a frequent sight at the old Gallo Studios in Kerk Street. Fortunately, ace producer the late Hamilton Nzimande from Gallo Records, listened to their demo tape and he liked the demo. That culminated in them recording their debut album MR TONY which although not a hit, made them realise their potential and the late Mr Nzimande did not give up on them. This made everyone see that the group had the potential to make it and that’s when Ray Phiri of Stimela gave them the name ‘SPLASH The hit debut album ‘PEACOCK was a massive hit, as the album attained sales of more than 50 000 copies, the late Mr Nzimande decided Patricia should do her first solo album COOL DOWN. The album sold Gold. Her second and third albums, ‘WITCH DOCTOR and ‘GIMBA earned her platinum discs with sales in excess of 50 000 copies each. Her fourth and fifth albums ‘POVERTY and ‘DZHENGEZHE saw her graduate to double platinum status, with sales in excess of 100 000 copies each. The rest of her albums have all exceeded the 50 000 sales mark proving her talent and popularity. ‘Batsha?has got 10 magnificent tracks all with meaningful messages. Oska Tee managed Patricia Majalisa during the production of the album Epatini that become another hit all over Africa. Patricia Majalisa has been producing Disco music for over 20yrs and her latest album Akulalwa which was released in 2012 has been rated as one of her best yet. In 2013 Patricia stopped working with Dan Tshanda to create and start up her own record label called Majalisa Entertainment. In 2014 Patricia Majalisa Featured and released Ludwes album Ziyakhipha under her Record Company.
