For those of you out there with a weird no start or poor running engine, heres something you need to check when the engine simply refuses to start. This engine came to me for a top end replacement with a report of a non start issue and I was asked to test run it once Id replaced the jug and slug. Well, upon assembly and installation in My Pig for starting. The engine never popped even once. Good fat blue spark, clearly wet plug indicating fuel flow, clean air filter. After checking everything twice, I grabbed a magnet from an older parts engine and swapped it on with the original coil. Fired up with the first half turn of the crank. Never even took it off the stand. Upon closer inspection, the magnet key way was found to be off on the no-start engine which prevented proper running even though it had a nice fat spark. It was timed wrong to run. Look closely at the picture showing two magnets for how little the keyway was off to cause this. When it wont run even with spark, check here first!
