For those of you that are not on my personal fb page keep reading from here...for those of you that are skip to the next paragraph- Dom was in gym class today (second day he was able to actually participate because of his broken arm...he is on at your own risk play with a brace on it for six weeks). So..anyway, he was playing a game...kind of like soccer..making a long story short, lost his balance, kind of tipped a bit and before he fell all the way another kid ---big kid-- jumped and landed on his leg. He broke both lower bones in his leg. Good news is no surgery! He got a splint in the ER- no cast yet because of swelling. We go to se ortho for the cast on Wed morning. The real bummer is that he has to use a wheelchair because he cant use crutches because of his arm. For Dom- he is completely devestated that he cant play basketball and he is down again. He is one tough kid though. When it happened he told Coach (gym teacher) he thought it was broke. However, he wasnt acting like it other than he couldnt stand on it. Said his pain level was 4/10. Coach called me and I said I was on the way (45 min drive). Then Coach called back 10 min later and said that it still didnt look too bad, no deformities, swelling, etc. but Dom said his foot was numb. I told him to call the ambulance and I would meet at hospital. (Always that concern with the bleeding disorder). So...sure enough..broke both bones. The tibula is a curved fracture going about 1/2 way up the bone (I saw this on the X-ray as soon as they loaded it). The fibula is broke in half at an angle. The good news is neither of them had to be reset. So anyway....that was our excitement for today. I am going to be talking to ortho about his bones. The accidents have all been legit trauma...but wondering if his bones are breaking more easily because there is something else going on....idk what to think about all this....we will keep ha updated. Thanks for the prayers :-)
