For those of you that caught the show, (and for those that didnt itll be up soon) I just wanted to add some food for thought. Im relatively new to shooting myself as Im sure a portion of our audience is as well. One of the best things you can do when selecting a gun for concealed carry or home defense is to budget some money to be able to go the the range and try before you buy. Dont try and make a guess that something will work for you or leave it up to person behind the counter at the gun store to tell you what they think should work for you. Because what works for them, their friend, wife, etc. or what theyre educated guess on what will work for you in reality just might not. I have learned this through first hand experience. My first hand gun was a Glock 19 and I wanted something smaller and inexpensive to carry. So I bought a Bersa 380. It wasnt a bad gun and it carried nicely, but all the safety features on it that arent on a Glock made it really hard for me to use effectively compared to the G19 that I was used to. Id talk to people, look at certain guns in shops, and read reviews online. What I ended up doing was going through 3 different guns before I found one that I actually worked for me and I felt comfortable shooting. Its very important that you select something that works for you, that you want to take to the range and shoot and that youll be comfortable carrying and have to use if need be. If youre not carrying and just need something for home defense, dont get in the mindset of, oh I want a shotgun, or pistol, or rifle to defend my home. Try them all and see what works for you and anyone else in your household that may have to use it. So put simply, if possible try before you buy. Rent something at the range or find a friend who will let you shoot what they have. Spending a little extra money for a rental and some ammo could save you hundreds in the long run. It will keep you from purchasing something that you wont like or want to shoot, thus making you a less proficient shooter or worse, not one at all. -The Minion
