For those of you that know Darreyl Taylor aka Ms. Corssica Symons please say a prayer for her family as she passed last night. Darreyl was a pillar in the community as he was one of the first gay men of his generation who was out here in the streets and literally fighting, from Ames to the Projects, Tommy Rose, 2000, Hanks, and all over north Omaha. One of the first - gays that will bash your @$$ right back! See its folks like him who fought in the streets to help folks learn to not only accept gays but respect them. See they went back to the Flanagan, and project days, with their hair, and make up, drill teaming, and dancing and fighting. Kicking @$$ and taking names. And for that we will always be greatful. Shes kicking it now with, weeble, Anthony, Mz. Chris, Ms TT, who else? Lester and Brandon, and a host of other folks Ive met and lost along my way. Yall are gone but never forgotten. As I go on my journey to help folks not only accept but acknowledge the needs for equality, acceptance, understanding, and compassion for gay rights, being a civil rights issue. I stand on the shoulders of all those that have gone before me and hope one day motivate someone else to pick up the torch and carry on the fight. See its more to life besides, who hates who, how many dates you can get, a persons past. Use your life as a symbol of hope for the next, even when you are in your mess, you can bless, the next. We are starting the planning for the next ball, and Id like to do something special for all of our fall in brothers and sisters who have lost the fight but won the battle. The question is not how did he die but how did he live! - And he lived his life how he wanted. And he would get me if I kept saying: He lol . I can hear him now saying: Ummmm Mz Terry Gurl; Whos this hes you keep talking about?! She wasnt on social media, didnt tweet, aint have followers....And did a hell of alot more than the majority, just by living her life, and being open and free. So now you are free, free from that body and shell which held you back, but anyone who has ever met you knows! Your spirit was larger than life and not even death can stop it. So live in the spirit.
