For those of you who have been patient with me as I freaked out (just a little)about my son Brandon and his recent hearing loss. Or should I say increased hearing loss. I have an update. We saw the ENT last week at UMASS. My freak out really didnt have much to do with his hearing loss, I was upset because no one could tell me WHY after 10 years he would suddenly lose about half of the hearing he had left in left ear, for which he uses a hearing aid.(His cochlear implant is on his right ear). We got an answer, I think. Dr. Weber says it was from a virus. What lottery do we need to be in with this shit luck? The good news, however, is that 50-60% of time the hearing can return in about 4 months. We go back for a repeat hearing test at end of December. If it is better, yay! If not, we go back to Dr. Weber to discuss our options which includes a 2nd implant. More info to follow in the new year. Pray it just comes back. We are due for something to go our way!
