For those of you who know me, you know my hair is normally some - TopicsExpress

For those of you who know me, you know my hair is normally some wild (unnatural) color. So in the attempt to continue that life pattern on, I went to dye it a fire engine red. I used a new brand Id never used before. Ive dyed my hair probably a hundred times and nothing has ever posed a problem, so why would it now? Its as routine as doing laundry. As Im happily slathering this blood red all over my head ( and neck, and back, and forehead and ears.... Im so messy but it all just wipes off!) except, when I was done and had my hair wrapped up to dry I went to wipe off.... and it wouldnt wipe off!! I started screaming bloody murder, trying to tear my own skin off, in a complete panic. My roommate came running in and (as she tried to suppress her laughter... which...we all know didnt work) she started yelling out things that Google said would help. Nail polish remover. Nope. Hydrogen Peroxide. Nope. Baby wipes. Nope! Now Im really panicking. I can feel my stomach churning in horror and broken pride. Google says, Lemon juice. So I grab my 100% lemon essential oil and slather it on... The bloody murder scream turns into sheer horror and excruciating pain. NOPE! NOT THAT! (Reading later it said water it down to almost nothing. Whoops. Shouldnt have missed that small detail). Finally after hours of horror, I get about 50% off with laundry detergent (by that point I couldnt tell what was dye and what was the next layer of skin that I had torn off - every part of me was red from scrubbing so violently!) Moral of this story ( Which Im only telling quite a few days later because my ego is still very bruised). Vanity is a horrible horrible sin in my life. My ears were blood red ( and hands and neck) all night and I was accused of being an axe murderer. And.... I have a legitimately deep, painful chemical burn on my face and neck. Kids, stay with your natural color ( even though this has really taught me nothing. Ill just read the instructions better next time.)
