For those of you who live and vote in North Stonington, here is something you should know. There is a quirk in the ballot that not all of us understand. I didnt anyway. On the ballot, where there are choices for the 3 candidates for Selectman (Not First Selectman) - Mark Donahue, Brett Mastrioanni and Tim Pelland. The ballot says you may only vote for one candidate. I called the Secretary of State to get it explained. That is the way it has to be. Its the law. As the only Democrat, Mark Donahue is going to be a Selectman. That is the law as well. The Board of Selectmen must have mixed parties. The real vote for us is between Brett and Tim. All three are good men. I am sure that Mark will get a vote. I am not even sure he needs that. If you like Mark as your Selectman, and he is a very likable guy, you have already won. Now please consider Tim and Brett. Please spend your vote on the choice between those two men rather than on a candidate that is guaranteed a position on the Board without anyones vote. If you have questions, please ask Arthur Champagne, 860-509-6104 or [email protected] with the Secretary of State, Elections Division. Please get out and get others to vote. This is your Town.
