For those of you who wonder if God really does answer prayers: I - TopicsExpress

For those of you who wonder if God really does answer prayers: I drug myself out of the house this morning to run. As I turned the corner, I saw a man pulling a large rolling suitcase with a young boy carrying a duffle bag and struggling to keep up with the man. They were a couple of blocks ahead of me and I could tell what the man was saying to the boy as he got behind but I would guess he was telling him to keep up since the boy would run to catch up when the man turned to him. They were moving pretty fast and turned the corner again before I got there. When I reached the corner, I could still see them. The boy kept running to try to keep up. I began to feel a twinge of alarm. With all the Amber Alerts we have had lately, I worried that I might pass up a chance to help this boy, if he needed help. I knew that if I went back to get a home, they might disappear from sight. I stood on the corner feeling helpless. So I did the only thing I know to do when I feel helpless....I prayed. I prayed that a police car would drive down the street so I could flag it down. I stood there for what seemed a long time watching each car as it came by, but no police car. Suddenly a feeling of peace replaced the dread that I had been feeling so I headed off on my run. I had run about a mile and as I turned the corner I saw the man, the boy, a police car and a Hollister Police Officer talking to the man. The police officer was the father of one of my former students so I crossed the street and asking to speak to him. I told him my experience with my concern for the boy and I told him, "I prayed you here." He laughed and then I told him again, "No, seriously. I prayed you here. I prayed for a police officer and here you are." I went on my way leaving the situation in the capable hands of Officer Bill Hutchison, thankful for a Heavenly Father who hears and answers my prayers.
