For those on this page who support common core, this is your opportunity. You dont think we understand common core. We have been told we lie. We have been asked which standard we dont like. We have been told by our state superintendent of education that we are cave dwellers. Enlighten us. Explain to us what common core is. Explain to us which standard(s) so enamor you that you are willing to change the way children learn to keep them. Explain to us why the math standards of common core are age inappropriate. Explain to us why children who once had good grades in math with fundamental understanding of concepts and equations are totally frustrated and defeated. Explain to us the constant push for testing and data collection, more than anything we saw with NCLB. Explain to us why teachers are expected to teach something which they know is not the best way to teach children. Explain to us why the US DOE has direct ties to state initiated common core and make blatant statements about it. Explain to us why science and history are de-emphasized and loosely plugged into ELA standards where once classic literature helped develop our childrens understanding of personal dynamics. Explain to us why our state superintendent says we dont use common core in Alabama. Explain to us why teachers teach to a test instead of to the student because he/she knows her/his performance evaluations are directly tied to test results. Explain to us why common core testing takes up to 20+ days of a childs school year when test prep and testing days are combined. Explain to us why schools in Alabama find it necessary to monitor their teachers and the teachers families social media pages about what they say in regard to common core. Explain to us the surveys that are coming out of the woodwork in schools across America since common core opened the door. Explain to us why companies use data tags on these standards. Explain to us why companies want our children and families/ personal information. Explain to us why consultants refer to education as the currency of the 21st Century. Explain to us why Bill Gates has pumped millions and millions into common core yet, he and his counterparts, refuse to let their own children be taught by such standards and strategies. Explain to us why parents are ignored and criticized for being concerned about their children in common core classrooms. Explain to us why Americans would WANT a system of education developed by avowed socialists and communists such as David Coleman. Explain to us why a workforce mentality is needed in this country. Explain to us how the United States of America became the greatest country in the world without common core. Explain to us how we sent a man to the moon without common core. Explain to us how our innovations and patents out number exponentially any other countries before common core. Explain to us why colleges and universities would even want their programs aligned to un-researched, un-tried education strategies and initiatives. Explain to us why in the ELA standards and APUSH our American heritage is basically ignored. Explain to us why progressive agendas have been given a free reign to be exploited on our children through the use of the standards. Explain to us why common core can be directly traced back to the UN and Robert Muellers global design for educating children. Explain to us why teachers cannot talk about the negative aspects of common core without fear of reprisal. Explain to us why teachers who speak out about common core are penalized for using their First Amendment Right as an American. Explain to us.
