For those that have been concerned (or more accurately, have been feigning concern) about SSCS volunteers going hungry, here is the latest from land crew team leader Rosie Kunneke on the claims: This is the biggest load of BS – I think it stems from some troll site that posted a photo of people going through a dumpster claiming it is SSCS crew (this is why I think random Faroese people also started giving the teams at their lookout points small food donations like cookies, fruits etc). I visit ALL the teams every week and they always have lovely meals. ALL houses have a ‘kitty’ that people club together to buy food. The team leader’s food is paid for but we always say that anything left after the weeks’ expenses can go into the kitty for the crew’s meals. (for example the lovely meal we had in Suduroy last night cost each person 20kroner) Just to be 100% sure that NO ONE is going hungry or does not have enough money for food, before I answered you, I contacted all the team leaders to hear if they are aware of ANY crew not eating or having not enough money to buy food. ALL team leaders said that all crew are well fed. New volunteers constantly bring in a lot of vegan food that they share with the team. We also had a HUGE soy-meat donation from Germany that was distributed to all teams. (including the Bardot and the boat crews who will be delivered on Monday).
