For those who are questioning how those with the stolen passports - TopicsExpress

For those who are questioning how those with the stolen passports could have gotten aboard..especially with biometrics technology..let me just provide you with some basic insight. Basic because I dont think your brain can handle more than that. Biometrics will require the database linking the information matching the fingerprint to the owner. In this case, the information is normally embedded in a chip such as in your ic and when you press your fingerprint into the reader it will verify if you are the owner of the card/document with the embedded information. In other cases, the information could also be held in a database which can be accessed remotely. Example, if you are registered with certain government databases, the reader will verify if you are really who you are. Now, for those who are blaming the Malaysian airport authorities for allowing those with the stolen passports on board..i think youre barking up the wrong tree. If the event occurred as speculated, I think the first place to be questioned should be the database holders ie, Austria and Italy in this case. If there had been any breach of security via this method, it would have been caused by a compromise on the passport/database. The airport readers only matches the fingerprint with the data embedded with your document. So if YOUR countrys database says you are this person as stated in YOUR countrys issued passport, then the reader will give the green light. So yeah, I think we gotta take a look at how come the passports were tampered with instead of jumping at the airport authorities....kapish?
