For those who have asked whether its possible to crash an RC airplane, the answer is, unfortunately, a definite yes - and it happened in the worst possible way this morning during the maiden flight of my BAE Hawk jet. It was a total loss, with the plane inexplicably cutting out all power and crashing into the river shortly before I was about to start landing approach. There is no worse feeling in RC flying than watching a beautiful jet that had been carefully built for two months tumble mercilessly into the river. I was really excited by the first two minutes of the flight, as she flew as well as possible and looked like a winner. Then, one moment of lost control and she was done. Damn! WTF... Then I saw the Malaysian Airlines news and was reminded of the obvious - mine was just a toy.
