For those who record MAD MEN to watch later, I will try to make a comment without any spoilers. Harry Hamlin as the blandly villainous Cutler showed some fine acting chops. In the 80s, on L.A. LAW, Hamlin was that tiresome thing known as a hunk, which is usually a career path to being a Trivial Pursuit answer. But he has the goods as an actor, and that lasts after youth has faded. His character on the show last night (set in 1969) appeared to make a veiled reference to a book published in 1969: SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE by Kurt Vonnegut. If you know the book and youve seen the episode, youll get it.
