For you non Swedish speaking person. On 12 September, the Swedish Government (Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and Minister for the Environment Lena Ek) developed a new predator proposition. According to the proposition it must be "a total of 150 registered breeding pairs" Golden Eagles in Sweden. It is unclear if is successful nests, number of territorial assertion active couples, or anything else. However, what is clear is that we are going from an earlier decision on a minimum level of 600 couples to a "reference value" of 150 pairs. A reduction by 75%! This would be a disaster for the future of Golden Eagles in Sweden. It is a slap in the face to the people who for many years has worked hard to save the Golden Eagle from extinction.
