For your consideration: From time to time well-meaning church members will come up to a pastor and say, I havent seen So-and-so at church lately. You need to contact them. Whoa, partnr...lets back up a step. Chances are the pastor has already contacted the missing folks, perhaps more than once. May I suggest that it might make a bigger impression if you picked up the phone and checked on them yourself? Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. Would you be more touched by one phone call from the hired gun, or a half-dozen calls from your peers? Were all in this together.
