A massive celebration? Check. A massive reception? Check. A massive attendance? Check. An even more massive cake? An even more massive check! Dantes and Rivera’s cake was courtesy of Goldilocks, the pastry and fastfood outlet that the groom endorses. Just how grand was the cake? Well, it was 12-feet tall, 120 kilograms, and adorned with Swarovski crystals. The cake was more than just a pastry–it also allowed effects to be projected on it. Their cake was so massive, foreign news media outlets from the United States to the United Kingdom wanted a piece of it. Puzzled by the top trending topic on Twitter a few days back, UK’s Mirror took a bite into the frenzy and asked, “Is this the world’s biggest wedding cake?” “The Guinness Book of World Records currently awards the accolade of “biggest wedding cake ever” to a six ton masterpiece made in New England, USA, in 2004, but the three biggest wedding cakes ever made were made for presentation purposes only, and not for an actual wedding. “It means that guests of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, whose wedding took place today, could be consuming the biggest wedding cake ever ordered,” the Mirror report said. ABC News also ran a report on the cake, with the hosts of “The Mix” so overwhelmed by the cake, they could only say “Wow!” Dantes and Rivera were married on Dec. 30, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City. The event, dubbed as “The Royal Wedding,” was attended by President Benigno Aquino III and other prominent personalities in the world of entertainment, fashion and politics.
