Foriegn Accounts(Contribution to development of Indian History) The Greek Visitors mention Sandrokottas identified with Chandragupta Maurya whose date of accession is fixed at 322B.C Megasthenese who came to the Court of Chandragupta Maurya wrote Indika The Periplus of the Erythrean Sea and Ptolemys Geography both written in Greek provide valuable data for the study of ancient geography and commerce.The date ascribed to the first ranges between AD 80 and 115,while the second is attributed to about AD 150. Pliny Naturalis Historia which belongs to the first Cenury AD was written in Latin and tells about trade betwen India and Italy Chinese Travelers Fa-Hsien and Hsuan Tsang came to the Country in the begining of 5th century AD and in the Second Quarter of 7th Century AD respectively. Fa-Hsign describes the social,religious and economic conditions of India in the age of Guptas and Hsuan Tsang presents a similar account of India in the age of Harsha
