Former students of Baseball Literature, youll remember that much of the course is based on Aristotles ideas about leisure and its value. Well, I just came across a quotation by John Locke, who I think it is safe to say is a philosopher very much in the tradition of Aristotelian rationalism (Duncan Richter, please dont correct me if Im wrong): He that will make a good use of any part of his life must allow a large portion of it to recreation. I think Aristotle, Bart Giamatti, and Mickey Mantle would approve.
