Forthcoming with the Oscar Verdict....South Africans should look - TopicsExpress

Forthcoming with the Oscar Verdict....South Africans should look at this as one positive foot into the justice system! Yes, it may appear bribery/corruption is the order of the Day. But consider the fact that the Law in South Africa protects the Criminals. An abstract from section 49.2 of the criminals proceedings say if a schedule 1 crime is being committed, the perpetrator can be shot dead and the Law defines it as Justifiable Homicide...is this the real deal here? This is the First case in South African History we can chew on Justifiable Homicide. If you place yourself in a scenario of someone entering your household and your act out of self defense can only find yourself in worse circumstances than the perpetrator ? Look at the statistics people that applied section 49.2 All have had the Law look at them unfavorably. If this is in favor of Oscar today, then we are closer to a crime free South Africa. We created a Criminal haven, by allowing the Law to offer the criminals rights? Insofar, its not about Oscar, its about the innocent people that Act out of self defense and become the criminal. 5 Years ago I was called out to a home that was broken into, which the owner was severely injured by the perpetrator - the owner managed to kill the intruder, but was arrested for his actions.... semantics ....the Law said he acted negligently with a Firearm and shot the intruder in the back with no prior warning?? It gives nobody the right to take another persons life, morally Im against this! But what happens when you placed in a situation where you have to protect your own? No justification to Oscar, but we live in this society that hypes up us for this fight or flight syndrome...rape, house breakings, hijackings....the Law said we can do something or maybe they led you to believe you can? And then came Oscar....Im no Judge, the law says innocent until proven guilty! The state failed to prove their points, but is this maybe a case that can set the stage for a better life for all ? Perhaps a warning to criminals on this case study....you may not have so much of that rights when justifiable homicide is placed on the verdict! MY OPINION - use it, dont use - but hidden in this case is light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes someone (Oscar) benefits, but adjust your mindset and see exactly what this means for South Africans!
