Forty years ago on Friday, August 9, 1974, Gerald Ford became our president with the resignation of Richard Nixon just the day before. In addition, my partner in life, Erik Johnson, was born at 9:51 pm in Mountain View, CA. It is amazing to think it was twenty years ago this month that I spied you on the ENMU campus... and trying desperately to describe you to my friends to figure out who you were. And now, twenty years later as you mark forty years of life, you have spent half of your life with me and we have a thriving, robust, spirited, and smart little man keeping us young. Happy birthday... and now for twenty more candles... and many more after that. I love you.
