Forwarded to the house of commons this morning. Dear Mr Prime - TopicsExpress

Forwarded to the house of commons this morning. Dear Mr Prime Minister I am writing to express my extreme disgust at the way in which the King family have been treated. There has been a catalogue of unforgivable errors that these poor parents have had to endure. The impossible choices they have had to make to try and preserve their child’s life are outrageous. Since when did we, the British people, take away our parent’s right of choosing what’s best for our children? Do we not lobby for such freedom elsewhere in the world? There have been many failings across many different authorities but it’s time to say enough is enough, you have the authority to end this; on the grounds that it began based on a very distorted version of the truth. Several facts that were withheld contributed to a media / police circus that has now put this poor family in the untenable position they are in now. Why did nobody fully investigate the hospital claims about how “at risk” the child allegedly would be without treatment? If the hospital didn’t notify the authorities for six hours, most likely there was a medical person willing to help the family, otherwise they wouldn’t have had the necessary medical supplies they required or the time to get away. If the medical person was willing to help, why? Probably because they disagreed with the hospital and felt that they were wrong. Find that person and ask them. Just because the Doctor had 25 years experience does not mean he was right, experience counts for nothing when accompanied by arrogance. Where was Mr King’s right to question the treatment? Where was Mr King’s right to choose? Do we not have the option to ask for a second opinion anymore? Who else was supposed to stand up for this poor sick little 5 year old? Was it not the parents’ duty to protect their child? Where do these Doctors feel that they have that much authority that they can threaten a tired and frightened family with a protection order? As if they weren’t facing enough stress and strain with other children to care for, juggling other family needs and worrying about an extremely poorly child. Perhaps a thorough examination of his conduct and previous performances and patients might be in order before so much faith is placed in his credibility and ability. Maybe it would have been prudent to do this before the family were terrorised. The police are just as much at fault for taking the information at face value. Before they launched a major manhunt, they should have made sure that they were in receipt of all the CORRECT facts. Some officers work extremely hard to serve and protect, yet one person seemingly in authority has the power to undermine all of that in one incident, and change it to unnerve and suspect! Then refuse to apologise because he thought he was right, another ego perhaps? Another high profile story that did result in the disappearance of a child was never treated this way. Maddie McCann’s parents admitted that they left their children in a hotel room alone yet they were not pursued in this manner. Many parents such as myself believe they should have been held accountable, but they weren’t. If admitting that you left three children under the age of 4 alone in an unlocked hotel room doesn’t constitute neglect, how can a family fighting to SAVE their child be? All the Kings want to do is be allowed to do what is right for their child and give him the best chance at survival, is that so wrong? What parent wouldn’t? I do not know the King’s personally but I feel strongly enough about the injustice that has unfolded to be compelled to send this letter. As a British citizen and parent, I have no political agenda or privileges, just my own sense of self that can tell right from wrong and this is wrong on so many levels that it’s scary to realise it can even happen! Mr Prime Minister, please use the advantages that your position allows you to help this family. Yours sincerely
