Four arrested for precursors in Poplarville By Jennifer Lenain Special to The Democrat Four men were arrested for possession of precursors to methamphetamine in Poplarville said Chief Investigator Donnie Saucier. Deputies with the Pearl River County Narcotics Division received anonymous tips on Aug. 7, that some Pearl River County residents were buying pseudoephedrine in Bogalusa for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine, he said. Investigators, along with deputies, went to the an area near Mississippi Highway 26 bridge where it crosses into Louisiana and observed the suspects’ vehicle, Saucier said. A traffic stop was initiated for a “broken tail light” and because the vehicle was “following another vehicle too closely,” the chief investigator said. When deputies turned on their blue lights and attempted to make a traffic stop, two boxes were thrown out of the passenger-side window, he said. “The vehicle attempted flee,” Saucier said. “However, they were boxed in by deputies’ vehicles.” The suspects occupying the vehicle were: Arthur J. Delaney, 44, of #34 Childs Rd., Poplarville; Danny R. Peterson, 39, of 11 Richard Johnson Rd., Carriere; Daniel L. Horvath, 27, of #17 Angie Ave., Picayune; and Jeremy W. Mitchell, 24, of 34 Albert Prince Rd., Carriere, Saucier said. The two boxes thrown from the vehicle were retrieved, Saucier said. One of them was an empty box of “Aleve D,” a product that contains pseudoephedrine, he said. “The second box recovered had 20 dosage units of pseudoephedrine in it,” he said. Deputies recovered eight lithium batteries from the vehicle, Saucier said. “All four suspects were placed under arrest for possession of precursors,” Saucier said. While searching the suspects, a small amount of marijuana was found on Peterson and he was additionally charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, Saucier said.
