Four in 10 support paying more tax if extra goes to NHS Opinium/Observer poll also finds widespread support for service with 77% saying it should remain free to use. More than four out of 10 voters - including over half of those who support Labour - would be prepared to pay more in tax if they knew the extra money would go to the NHS. An Opinium/Observer poll found 43% of people would be willing to pay higher taxes specifically for health care; 53% of Labour voters would be willing do so, against 36% of Tory supporters.
