Four men are in police custody and a loaded handgun seized after an alleged attempted hold up of a hotel in Granville this morning. It was about 2.30am today (Tuesday 8 April 2014), that a man – allegedly armed with a handgun – entered a hotel on Woodville Road. Police have been told the man demanded money from two female employees before they ran into another section of the building seeking help from security. The man walked out of the building and was last seen being driven away in a white Toyota Camry sedan. Police were alerted and a description of the vehicle was broadcast on radio. Minutes later a vehicle matching that description was stopped in a car park in Manchester Street, Merrylands, and four men arrested by police from Holroyd Local Area Command with the assistance of a Dog Unit team. A loaded handgun was also seized and has been taken for forensic examination, along with a number of other items. The men, aged between 29 and 39, are now in custody at Merrylands Police Station. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
