Four years ago we had solar panels put on our roof with Mellow and Janet Honek and Sunspot Solar Energy Systems, LLC. At that time, I knew this would be a good investment for several reasons. I knew it would reduce the energy load on the electrical grid, I knew I would be doing my part to make the world a better place. The investment was costly, even with the federal and state rebate incentives. What I came to understand much later was more profound. I took all that money I would have given to the electric company, who would have ploughed it into company profits and bonuses for their fat CEO, and I gave it to a small start up company that would plough my payment into changing the world by putting solar panels on many other houses in the area. It is a decision I have been really proud to make.
