Fox News Just Drop-Kicked Dish Network With a Big Pile of Reality By Editor | 155,268 views Fox News has been in a knock-down-drag-out negotiation fight with Dish Network, as the satellite provider has been quick to use strong-arm tactics. But their efforts just backfired in a major way, and Fox News is rubbing it in! It hasn’t been a month since Dish Network pulled the Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network from its platform, and over 90,000 of its customers have cancelled their subscriptions in favor of other television providers. This is huge news for the media industry, and yet another indication of just how popular Fox News is. Tim Carry says Dish’s disconnect from Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network has been a costly one for the No. 2 DBS provider. Carry, executive vice president of distribution for FNC and FBN, estimated that Dish has lost some 90,000 subscribers since the channels were removed from the provider’s 14 million subscribers late on Dec. 20. He based the total on the number of viewers that have reached out to the keepfoxnews website and 888-numbers, and others that have contacted Dish directly. Carry said that a combined 350,000 have called about or visited the section of the Fox website providing a list of alternative providers in the viewers’ area. He said the numbers began picking up on Dec. 26, after the Christmas holiday. Given “dwell times” reaching four to five minutes, Carry said the programmer has extrapolated that at least 45,000 of these respondents have dropped Dish. Conservatives across America are fed up with Dish network’s treatment of Fox News, and the network is fighting back boldly. The TV provider is learning just what happens when you cut off access to the only fair-and-balanced 24 hour news network.
